Packard Walsh and his motorized gang control and terrorize an Arizona desert town where they force drivers to drag-race so they can 'win' their vehicles. After Walsh stabs the decent teenager Jamie Hankins to death for being intimate with a girl whom Walsh wants for himself, the mysterious Jake Kesey arrives, an extremely cool motor-biker with an invincible car. Jake befriends Jamie's girlfriend Keri Johnson, takes Jamie's sweet brother Billy under his wing and manages what Sheriff Loomis can not - the methodical and otherworldly elimination of Packard's criminal gang. A mysterious figure suddenly appears to challenge a gang of motorhead thugs. this movie is very good

for a movie made in 1986 the special effects are outstanding plus i like charlie sheen this movie kinda creepy yet lots of fun if you go to rent a movie i highly suggest this one and if you see it on tv WATCH you will enjoy it if you like the fast and furious movies then u will like this 2 Considering the year of this film I am surprised it made it into the can! Unless of course it is a salute to the dreadful 'B' movies of the late 50's, early '60's. Even then it missed by a mile. The film does not know if it is a revenge, sci-fi or scary movie. Sheen and Fenn must be thanking their lucky stars that they didn't sink from trace as this movie should have done. Max Max had been made 7 years prior to this stinker and despite being filmed on string outshines this film by a mile. I can only think that all the actors, film crew and extras had a spare afternoon together with a couple of cameras and loads of free film. No wonder the director has 3 other names. I'd have tried to hide too. The Wraith reveals itself as little more than formula teen-audience lure. Of some merit to the whole enterprise are two things: the lovingly photographed desert scenery and the hip and lively music score that drowns out most of the turgid dialogue. As far as the acting goes, it's a pity there are no blinds on the screen. [25 Nov 1986, p.D7]
